Twelfth Stage - Alternative

This variant, and definitely more challenging alpinistic of the base route , allows you to touch the western part of the so-called Dolomiti Pesarine. The route, like the previous one, allows in the same way, but from a different angle, to know the area of the Carnic Alps that straddles between Veneto and Friuli, in particular to the Group of Brentoni and that of the Terze, which contains on the west, the basin of Sappada.

Route description

This other possibility for the twelfth stage is equally long and demanding as the "basic" one. However, it can be split into two days, overnighting at the Fratelli De Gasperi mountain refuge. This route allows you to brush with the western part of the  Pesarine Dolomites. As with the previous route, you will traverse the part of the Carnic Alps that straddles the Veneto and Friuli, but from a different angle. Here you will pass through the Gruppo delle Terze and the Claps mountains, which also surround the Sappada basin to the south. Once over the border into the Veneto you could also leave the Cammino delle Pievi (the Church Trail)  and join the Cammino delle Dolomiti (The Dolomite Trail)
